Do you like chess? Imagine playing a game on a really large scale, with huge trucks and metal boxes as your chess pieces and the entire country as the chess board. People in logistics have to be really good at coordinating their strategic moves — otherwise it’s ‘checkmate’, and the products don’t get delivered on time.
From the purchasing of leather to make the cross-trainers, to the forklift driver, and the warehouse to store them, to the cashier asking whether you will pay Interac or cash, logistics connects all the dots to make sure the runners are on the shelf when you want them, the size 11 you’ve been looking for, at the right price.
Jobs in logistics are never boring. It is never a normal day. In fact it feels like fourth down every time. Like a quarterback leads his team to the ‘Promised Land’, you are in charge of delivering millions of dollars worth of goods each year for your company.
You decide how well your client will be served, your company’s reputation is on the line, and you control that line! It’s a challenge, but those in logistics, just like quarterbacks, would not have it any other way.
