This site is designed to help young people find rewarding careers in transportation, either directly or by helping educators and parents with additional information.
Transportation isn’t just one industry; it’s a collection of industries operating on land, sea and in the air, employing almost a million Canadians. These separate industries work closely together. Very little gets from its starting point to its final destination by just one of these means. Products may move by truck or rail to the port, for loading on a ship. Tourists may come by air, then rent a car, or take a rail excursion or board a ferry.
Jobs in transportation, regardless of whether they are on roads, rail, water, or in the air, have many similarities. It’s a service business ? supporting those who manufacture, mine, or harvest something and then want to sell it, along with those who wish to travel or serve travelers, such as hotels and attractions.
