Transportation naturally makes one think of movement - yet more than half of all transportation jobs are done in one place. Thousands of jobs involve maintaining vehicles, equipment, roads, bridges, runways and the like, or scheduling, planning, loading, billing and otherwise coordinating the work of those who drive, pilot, maneuver or steer.
Some jobs require a high school diploma or basic literacy and math skills, others require skilled trades training or specialized college programs, and still others need undergraduate or advanced degrees at universities. Most have a large on-the-job learning part. Much of the physical work in early transportation jobs is gone, replaced by high tech machinery. The transportation industry is committed to promoting equal employment opportunities for all. There is literally something in which everyone can excel.
