Work Involved

Good hand-eye coordination, depth perception, and strength and dexterity are prized skills usually reserved for athletes but in this job they are like gold. When everybody seems to be doing the same thing sometimes you need to branch-out and try a different path.

Imagine right out of high school jumping into a job where you get to drive electric/diesel pushers, forklifts and container moving equipment. Longshore Workers climb, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch and crawl using some of the most unique machinery around. Learning as they go, Longshore Workers are quick on their feet with new challenges everyday. It could be the middle of the night with sleet moving sideways or high noon with the sun beating your back. You never know what this job will throw at you; it’s as exciting as it is different.
