Imagine trying to hold a handful of sand and not let anything slip between your fingers. A Port Security Specialist has the huge job of keeping the port, the cargo and the people safe from the petty thief to the mastermind smuggler.

A PSS is the leader of an ops team that monitors and coordinates the entire security operation. Whether deploying a team to monitor an incoming cruise ship or investigating a container ship from the other side of the world, it’s a big job keeping our ports safe and secure. When an emergency hits, a PSS and his squad carry out the security plan using state-of-the-art devices such as optical intrusion detection devices and closed circuit cameras. It’s a big responsibility; do you feel up to it?

Post-secondary certificate in a security related field plus knowledge of traffic control, dangerous goods, supervision, and conflict management

With experience you can move into senior managerial positions in port security or possibly other departments.
