Days, some evening and weekend work; sleep away from home
What would happen if a massive, thousand tonne, hundred-car train suddenly derailed in the middle of a city? What if this train was transporting gasoline or cyanide? Huge operations like the railway operations in Canada need Inspectors to keep the unthinkable from happening.
Rail Equipment Inspectors are experienced people with a knack for details. They take on responsibility when they give their word that a train is safe to travel across the country. Rail Inspectors live their lives on trains roaming the countryside, switching now and then at various rail yards, checking all of a train?s equipment and personnel. They monitor the control centres, make reports and issue citations if their high standards are not met. Rail Equipment Inspectors work hard and the safety of our railways depend on their attention to even the tiniest detail.
Years of experience in the rail industry plus a Bachelors degree in civil engineering
You can move into more senior positions such as Regional Superintendent , Regional Director of Surface or Regional Manager
