If you like the outdoors, this is the job for you; frequent travel; teamwork
Sweat pours down his brow as he lays down another rail. The sunlight comes through the trees and warms his back. A Railway Maintenance Worker works “all the live long day” fixing and laying down tracks. He works hard for his money and blazes the trails that our country is built on.
Railway Maintenance Workers operate heavy machines and are always around to clear the tracks of snow, trees and pennies that kids have tried to flatten. They learn about trains and hope to one day become an Engineer. Nevertheless, when a thousand-tonne train is barrelling through the countryside at 60 km/h, it depends on the Railway Maintenance Worker to keep its tracks safe.
On-the-job training
Railways large and small
As you gain more experience you can become a Railway Conductor, Locomotive Engineer, or a Rail Operations and Equipment Inspector
